In 1900, an Adivasi leader emerged from the land of Jharkhand, whose name became a symbol of freedom, justice, and resistance all over India. His name was Birsa Munda. In the same way that Bhimrao Ambedkar was a great leader of the Dalit community, Birsa Munda is such a popular leader of the Adivasi community that the history of the Adivasis of India cannot be written without describing him.

Birsa Munda and Subhas Chandra Bose were two of the most prominent revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement. They led armed, violent struggles against colonial rule in different states of India and at different times. Despite having completely different social backgrounds, the two revolutionaries had many similarities.

Both Munda and Bose were influential and courageous leaders who initiated social and political activities during the British rule in which lakhs of people gathered for the goal of achieving independence. Subhash Chandra Bose was known throughout the country for uniting the masses in his favor through his effective and thought-provoking speeches. Birsa Munda was also a respected leader of his region. He inspired all the Munda people to fight unitedly against the British government.

Both the leaders fought the freedom struggle with complete fearlessness and did not compromise with the British in any difficult situation. Subhash Chandra Bose was ready to do anything to achieve independence. Munda led small-scale guerrilla warfare against the British army many times and never surrendered to the British even after facing difficult circumstances.

Both the leaders were visionaries. He wanted to see India and its society in a new form. Bose had envisioned a developed India that would be prosperous from economic and social point of view. Birsa Munda imagined a tribal homeland for the tribals where their rights would be completely protected and the tribals would not have to face any kind of discrimination or oppression.

Both Netaji and Munda were ready to sacrifice their lives for the independence of the country. Subhash Chandra Bose gave up his comfortable family life to free India from the shackles of slavery; Birsa Munda also got martyred while fighting for the rights of tribals at the age of just 25.
